Derwent Lower Football Club is a non profit making organisation, the club is run by parent volunteers based at Derwent Lower School, it is open to all boys and girls aged between 4-9 living in Henlow, Lower Stondon and surrounding areas.
The Club has been formed with the support of Bedfordshire FA.
The football club will be focusing on the fun aspects of football, encouraging the children to enjoy participating and not concentrating on playing competitive games.
The football club will meet each Saturday morning at Derwent Lower School on their playing field – each session will last around an hour and start at 9.00 am.
During the winter months, the training sessions take place in the Sports Centre at RAF Henlow.
Children are asked to turn up on the morning, with a bottle of squash/water, in their football kit, including shin pads. They should bring clean indoor trainers/plimsolls if the weather is “bad”.
Please make sure all your children’s shoes, kit etc is labelled with your child’s name.
The charge per session is £1 per week per child, payable termly in arrears.
Parents are asked to complete a consent form which will be available at each session.
Parents will also be pleased to note, refreshments for their children will be available at each session, as well as teas/coffees and bacon rolls at very reasonable cost for the spectating parents!
The Saturday morning sessions will be supplemented in due course with some friendly matches against other schools. The club currently has teams in Years 2-4 which are entered into the Mid Beds Mini League.Year 4 play competitive matches., all other Year group matches are non competitive.The team will probably play about 10 games through the season.
There will also be a Year 1 Team (including Reception Class aged children) - it is anticipated this team will play (from February 2012) in organised but non-competitive games through “mini-tournaments” held throughout the year
